The wedding speech, when well thought out, rehearsed and properly delivered, could bring a wedding reception or dinner to life. A good wedding speech will entertain and make the guests feel great about being present for the celebration. Here are a few tips for writing your own wedding speech if you don't have any idea what to say.

Thank Anyone Important

A wedding is an ideal occasion to thank many people. Name the people you want to give thanks to and why. For example, if you are the best man, you can thank the groom for being his best friend. If you are the bride, you can thank your parents for raising you to be independent and smart.

Tell a Story

People like to hear stories about other people. Say something you know about the person you will be talking about because you were also there when it happened, or even if you had only heard about it. For example, you and the groom went to the same college but attended lectures late, if at all in the mornings because you both played poker all night long. The groom won often and made enough to pay for one semester's tuition.

Give a History Lesson

This is very similar to telling a story. Go over the significant milestones, if you are familiar with them, about this person, the bride or groom. That would include the schools they attended, the jobs they had or the hobbies they are in to.

Disclose a Secret

Everyone likes to hear and tell secrets. Say something no one knows about the person you will be talking about but may be surprised to find out. For example, tell the guests that the bride once auditioned for a popular television show. Or, that the groom had a crush on his third grade school teacher, who by the way is a guest tonight.

Say Something Funny

Any occasion would be fun if humor were part of it. If you can make people laugh with a funny story, everyone will feel like they are having a good time and enjoy themselves.

You can't force a laugh. However, the stories you tell or the situations you describe can end up getting a few guests chuckling without you trying to make it funny.

Give Unsolicited Advice

It's customary for someone to give the newlyweds some advice. The most common is anything on marriage. If you are making a speech and you are married, you can share your wisdom on how to be a good spouse. A common advice is to resolve your argument before you both go to sleep. Another would be that the wife is always right. Although these examples are important, admittedly they have been over-used. What you can do, if you can't think of advice that no one else has ever told, is to make these original or unique by describing how the advice has helped you in your own marriage.

Reveal Your Feelings

You can express your feelings about the people you will be talking about in your speech. If you are the father of the bride, tell your daughter how proud you are of her and that you will always be there for her. In addition, you can tell your new son-in-law how happy you are to have him as a new member of the family.

Get the Audience Involved

This idea is a bit unconventional and almost crosses into the job of the MC, however you might consider getting the audience involved by asking questions about the couple. You can ask about the craziest thing the couple has ever done. Or, you can ask about why they would make a good couple. You can come up with any opened ended question that requires some explaining. Some would be glad to participate just to be the life of the party. By doing this, you'll loosen up the crowd and make the celebration all the more fun.

You should consider it an honor and a privilege if asked to make a speech at a wedding reception. The newlywed's family asked you because they trust you and have respect in you. Two First Communion Party Games for Kids

The First Communion is a special time when your child really begins to take part in the responsibilities and rules of your religion and some First Communion party games will lighten the tension. You may even want to mark the occasion by throwing a small party, so why not include a couple of fun First Communion party games?

Kids Crab Football:

This fun activity makes a great choice for the First Communion Party Games because it will help to burn off pent up energy from the more solemn events you had scheduled earlier. It also lets everyone get out of their special occasion clothes and relax a bit. For this First Communion party game you’ll need a large beach ball and lots of space for the kids to move around in. Crab Football is just like regular soccer except the ball is larger and the players have to walk like crabs. You know how, right? Just bend over like you are going to do a back flip and scuttle around on your hands and feet.

Animal Scavenger Hunt:

For this indoor or outdoor appropriate First Communion party game have the party divide into groups of three or four. Have each group choose an animal they want to pretend to be and make the adult in the group the Shepard. At the start of the game you will give the kids in each of the groups a list of hidden items you placed around the party area. The Shepards will all stay in the First Communion party games area while the ‘animals’ all go out searching for missing items. When a player finds an item they must call to the Shepard by making animal calls. The Shepard will recognize their players because the calls will be similar to the sounds made by their chosen animal. The Shepard will follow the sounds to their teammate and will get the missing item from the player and return to the First Communion party games area, while the ‘animal’ continues on the hunt to find more scavenger items. Those at the end of the hunt with the most items are the winners.

There are many reasons for throwing a party, most commonly birthdays, Christenings, engagements, the arrival of a new baby or any other special holiday or occasion. Putting together the perfect party takes a lot of planning and detail, and everything right down to the decorations and cake will be thought of. Sometimes research and planning is conducted to see what is needed, and to ensure that nothing is missed. An important part of a party is to give the guests a party favor to leave with. This is deemed as proper courtesy.

After all the planning and preparation, it can be difficult to try and figure out what to give as a party favor. A good rule is to never give a gift that you would not enjoy to receive yourself. If it is going to be a party where adults and children alike will attend, it is good to differentiate the gifts into special ones for children, and those for adults.

If the party favor will be for children, it is a nice to give a packet with sweets and small toys inside. Children are simple, and something more elaborate may not interest them. There is nothing better you can give children than a packet of sweets and toys to take home with them. Ensure that the small toys included in the party pack are not a choking hazard if the children are very young. The toys can be gender specific too. For example, the little boys can get a toy car and gun and the little girls can get a cute purse and doll. The toys need not be expensive or extravagant, and there are many gorgeous cheap alternatives. If it is not affordable for you to include a toy in each goodie bag, you can just put in some sweets, a chocolate and a packet of chips. Most children will be completely content and thrilled with this.

If you are holding a Christening event, you can always give a small gift bag with a beautifully designed symbol of your religion inside, and a few delicate chocolates. This is assuming all your guests are party to the same religion as you. If you are not sure, a simple package of some chocolates and a thank you card should suffice. Engagement parties can invite a more creative gift. These sorts of parties will normally only involve adults, so the range of gifts you can send them away with is endless. For the ladies, some nice bubble bath or body wash is always nice. A smart pen could suffice for the men, and even some attractive, masculine personalized stationary.

If you are having a party with a theme, you can always give party favors in line with that. If the party is a pool party or beach theme, you can always give sun tanning session vouchers for the women, and hats for the men. If your party theme is fancy dress, there are all sorts of wacky and funny gifts you can give, such as gags, or a pack of cards.

I love coming up with great toddler birthday party ideas. It is so much fun planning a special party for your little one. Especially as they reach the age of understanding what's going on. My son is 3 and I can say that all three of his birthday parties had cute themes and were so much fun.

That is the ultimate goal. You want your toddler to have a blast and you also want all the guests to leave just as happy. Moms and Dads it can be so much work planning a birthday party but it can also be so much FUN. They only turn 1 or 2, once in their little lives so let's make it memorable.

What should be the THEME of the Birthday Party?

You first must pick out a theme for the party. Usually this can be rather simple. The rest of the planning becomes easier because you know where you are going and what you have to work with. Does your toddler have a favorite book or movie? What is there favorite television show? It could be that they like cars or trains or horses. This is the best place to start. Remember you want to pick what they like or are into for that moment. It's their party and their day. It will make it more exciting to see their favorite character all over at their birthday party. Your child will usually give you the best toddler birthday party idea and theme to come up with. So Have Fun choosing the correct theme.

Don't worry if you pick the same theme that say a friend of yours did. You can change up your party and make it different. Relax just choose what your toddler wants and the rest will go smoothly.

How many guests should I INVITE to the Party?

If your toddler has friends from daycare or neighbors and you know that your child really likes them definitely invite them. Someone told me once that you should invite one friend for every year of your child's age, plus one. Now I never really followed this advice because at my son's First birthday he had 20 children attend. I loved it but you may not. The choice is ultimately up to you. Remember that along with the children you invite a parent will stay at the party and possibly other siblings. This will make your guest list GROW! Just remember to always state on the invite to please RSVP so that you are aware of the total count.

Another toddler birthday party ideas can be for you to just have a party for family members only, favorite aunts and uncles and cousins. Your toddler will be just as happy seeing Grandma and all of the family there to share the special day. This can make for an awesome party just as well. A BIGGER party will not always mean better. So you decide your comfort level and build on that. Your toddler will be happy regardless.

PLANNING The Party

You should start planning the toddler birthday party ideas 6 to 8 weeks in advance. This should be plenty of time for you get all of your toddler birthday party ideas together. You can choose the pre-printed kind that matches your party theme or else have them custom made. Look into the custom made ones. They are really not as expensive as you think. I purchased mine on E-bay. You can pick the theme and what you want them to say. This was so much easier than writing out invitations by hand. A real time saver in my opinion and they looked so nice. I still receive comments about his invitations.
